The Horncroft Sand Extraction Site

 An application has now gone in from the Barlavington Estate to West Sussex County Council for planning permission to extract 1.5 million tonnes of sand from the Horncroft site just to the south of Fittleworth. It is anticipated that the site would be worked for some 20 years.

 Public Meeting

As many of you are aware a Public meeting took place in the Village Hall in Fittleworth on Friday 16th April between 8.00 and 9.00pm

Following the meeting members of the public who were residents of Fittleworth were invited to vote for or against the proposed quarrying. Prior to the meeting votes were also deposited in the Village Shop and also emailed to the Parish Clerk.

The results of the collective voting are;

Against the quarrying 211vote

For the quarrying 5 votes

The Parish Council have now received the necessary mandate and will oppose the development.

Many thanks to all those who participated.
